Why would a store call itself S.S. Natural? Does it want to sound like a novelist—say, V.S. Naipaul? I don’t mind the pretension, but the interior of this store has fine graces, not airs. The people working here ensure a quiet, steady professionalism; if there is an accidental spillage or a broken bottle, the detritus vanishes almost as immediately as it appears. My reason for coming here is the cold Asian noodle salad—and soon, I suspect, the Veg dumplings as well. There is one other reason too: the Boylan Ginger Ale. One wishes one could eat on a bench outside the pretty church facing the store, accompanied by the soundtrack of a Bach tune. Substack link in profile

I have been going to the Natural for around 20 years and they are truly the best supermarket. I’ve always been amazed at the great varieties of produce they have and how much it’s evolved and gotten better since my first memories here as a child. While it’s true they are on the more expensive side, you absolutely get what you pay for and in my opinion they are the best grocery store in the Forest Hills area!

I have bought here before. They have really unique stuff however I called them to let them know that the bag of dry figs i bought 20 mins earlier were expired. The woman that picked up didn't apologized, did not offer a solution, she just said ok and hung up. The food here is not cheap but I expect to pay a lil extra for organic. What I could do without was the rudeness. Moving forward i will walk myself to Trader Joe's where they are treat their customers better and the hell with this store.

can’t say enough good things about my neighborhood gem, SS Natural Market. What truly sets them apart from the rest is their delivery service — it’s a total game changer. Barun is absolutely amazing — so personable and attentive, he literally acts as your own private shopper. All you have to do is text him your order, and he’ll have everything delivered to you as quickly as possible. It doesn’t get more convenient than that. The entire staff is incredible. The women at the cashier counter are always so warm and welcoming, and the team at the salad and fresh juice department — both the men and women — are just as friendly and helpful every single time. And what I appreciate most is that even on Sundays, when most neighborhood fresh markets are closed, I can always count on SS Natural Market. Inna is truly the best — always kind, reliable, and ready to make sure I get exactly what I need. This place goes above and beyond in every way. So grateful to have them in my neighborhood!

On Tuesday, 2/24, at about 2 pm, I walk to my local grocery store. There are other options nearby, but I chose SS Natural Market. I've shopped here for 10+ years without problems; everyone is usually kind and helpful. A woman raised her hand to signal me that I am next. Once there, the cashier completely ignored me. Her colleague requested assistance, and she focused on helping her without speaking to me. I was patiently standing there. She returns and rings up my groceries. She stated how much the groceries cost, and I responded, "Hello." After replying "yes"  to me and intentionally refusing to say hi or hello back, she shouted that she'd said hi to me. I told her, no, you didn't. I said to her that you helped your coworker without even glancing at me. She yelled that she'd said hi and was quite combative, but she hadn't yet said hi. She called me crazy and stated I had a mental health illness. I told her that she just did not like being challenged or corrected.  I said to her that I exist no matter how much she tries to ignore me, and I left.
